Planned Parenthood was founded by volunteers. In 1916, Margaret Sanger opened the first family planning center in the United States, working with volunteers to provide contraceptive advice despite the threat of jail and charges of violating anti-obscenity statutes.

Today Planned Parenthood of Chester County continues to rely on the energy and commitment of volunteers to fulfill our mission of providing comprehensive reproductive health care, education, and advocacy. We offer volunteer opportunities in our administrative office as well as our four Health Care Centers in West Chester, Avondale, Coatesville, and Phoenixville.

Did you know…PPCC volunteers donated over 4,800 hours of their time to support our mission last year? That’s equivalent to the work of 2.5 full time employees!
