Support the Freedom of Choice
Act (FOCA)
Send a message to your federal legislators that you DEMAND
FREEDOM OF CHOICE!
Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Representative Jerrold Nadler
(D-NY) have introduced the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA), which
would codify in federal law protections for a woman’s
right to choose as outlined in Roe v. Wade. FOCA would prevent
the government from discriminating against a woman on the basis
of her reproductive decisions, about using birth control, having
a child, or terminating a pregnancy. |
 |
If passed, FOCA will successfully supercede anti-choice
laws that restrict choice, including laws that prohibit public
funding of abortions for poor women or counseling and referrals
for abortion. Send a message to your federal legislators that
the passage of FOCA is necessary to protect our essential reproductive
rights. Contact your legislator in Washington, DC today. You
may access your legislator’s contact information by clicking
on the Freedom of Choice box, left. |

Compassionate Assistance
for Rape Emergencies Act (CARE)
Currently, over 50% of Pennsylvania hospitals do not provide
sexual assault victims with information or access to Emergency
Contraception (EC), even if the victim asks for it. It is estimated
that 25,000 sexual assault victims become pregnant each year.
In response, Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania affiliates, have
worked with elected officials to introduce the Compassionate Assistance
for Rape Emergencies Act (CARE). To learn more about CARE and how
you can get involved, please visit: www.pacare.org. |
